On December 17, 2004 Pfizer Inc. the manufacturer of the popular pain drug Celebrex released findings from a study involving cancer patients that found an apparent increased risk of heart attack and other cardiovascular problems.
In 1999 the FDA approved the drug. Celebrex has been prescribed to millions since its approval. Currently is the most frequently prescribed arthritis drug. The generic name for Celebrex is Celecoxib.
The drug has been linked to several gastrointestinal disorders and at least ten deaths since its approval in 1999.
